You can always shop from home from my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/janebroadbent Hello!! Every piece from Broadbent Pottery is made by me, Jane Broadbent. Growing up, I was surrounded by artists at craft shows and calligraphy events, thanks to my artist parents. It was a long time before I realized that this was not how everyone else experienced childhood. I made my first "pots" at summer camp, little cones of almost centered mud shaped like nuclear cooling towers. My first actual classes were in college, in a crowded studio, at 8 am. Darkroom photography was my focus then, but in the years after college, I sought out classes and studio space in the various places I lived. In 2008 - 2009 I apprenticed with Zpots Studio Pottery in Southern Vermont. I now work out of my very convenient basement studio in Millersville, PA, where I moved a few years ago after 7 years in West Philadelphia. I still return to Philly often for art fairs. Pottery is my main focus, but I've explored many mediums: binding books, paper making, screen printing, photography, sewing. I love the repetitive processes of creating, the physical work of bringing objects into being - things like chopping vegetables for cooking, planting rows and rows of plants and throwing pots one after another on the wheel. I strive to make beautiful, simple pots for everyday use, that can enhance and beautify our experience every time we use them. |
